Greetings beautiful people of earth, I am William Lowe. I am a musician, DJ, designer, and most importantly, a child of the sun. I am currently working within the Visual Communications Program, and have an instinctual interest in, and fascination with, experimental art and design. I admire the metaphorical places where blades of grass push up through cracks in concrete. I come from a long line of wandering freedom fighters, and seek to cultivate relationships with modern day alchemists, the types of souls that can craft diamonds out of dust.
I am completely inspired and driven by other ways of knowing, instinct and soulful expressions of self and spirit. I adore underground art & music, dance, mythology, and spend much of my time exploring and connecting with expressions of the African Diaspora, global subcultures and countercultural movements.

Many of my influences are musical, often varying wildly from Early music of the Medieval and Renaissance to classic Blues, Soul and Jazz artists such as Billie Holiday, the funkified grooves of Bootsy Collins, all the way to the underground music of post-punk bands like The Cocteau Twins. I have a deep appreciation for visual artists, such as Nick Cave and Yoshitomo Nara, and appreciate the graphic design work of Ed Towles, Vaughan Oliver, v23, Russell Mills and the visionaries of the Afro-Surrealism movement.
In the coming years, I plan to travel more, fight for the inclusion of the marginalized, continue my lifelong commitment to learning, and find a career where I can sleep ‘til two in the afternoon. My hope is while on my journey around the sun, I continue to laugh out loud, trust my instincts, and help move the dial closer toward the light of the sun and true liberation.
